A 26-year-old woman who was seven months pregnant is recovering in a hospital in Colorado on Thursday after she was stabbed in the stomach by a woman she met on Craigslist the day before.

The victim was responding to a Craigslist ad for baby's clothes when she arrived alone at the home of 34-year-old Dynel Catrece Lane (pictured below), a former nurse's aid. Lane proceeded to attack the victim with a knife and cut her unborn daughter from the womb, resulting in the baby's death.
Police arrived at the house, located about 30 miles north of Denver, after receiving a call reporting a woman crying for help.

Lane is being held at the Boulder County Jail and could face charges of attempted first-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death, USA Today reports. Because of Colorado's "complicated" laws involving crimes against unborn children, Lane is unlikely to face murder charges.

"In most circumstances if a child was not actually born alive, then homicide charges are not possible," said Boulder County District Attorney Stanley Garnett.

If found guilty of the charges against her, Lane could face between 16-48 years in prison.
