Police officer Patrick Ray of Rowlett, Texas, had just clocked out for lunch on Sunday, July 26, when he caught wind of a nearby emergency that he simply couldn't ignore. The 911 call had come from Tammy Norvell, mother of 22-month-old Bexley, whose lips were turning blue after she terrifyingly stopped breathing. The cop raced to the scene and his quick-thinking ultimately saved the toddler, as he realized there was a blockage and cleared her airways (unbeknownst to her parents, Bexley had swallowed a coin).

Bexley's rescue felt particularly poignant for Officer Ray given his two sons at home: he told FOX 4 News that all he could think about was hugging his own boys following the frightening moment. While this incident serves as a tremendous example of being at the right place at the right time, it's also a testament to Ray's heroism (not to mention his parental instincts).
