Channing Tatum's wife gives him a lap dance on 'Lip Sync Battle'
January 10, 2016
Best known for his dynamic turns in "Magic Mike" and "Magic Mike XXL," actor Channing Tatum isn't much used to getting upstaged on his own best stage — dancing.
But that appears to be the case in an episode of Spike's "Lip Sync Battle" thanks to Tatum's significant other, Jenna Dewan Tatum. In a 45-second preview clip shown in January 2016 on NBC's "Today" show, Dewan Tatum did a flawless impersonation of her hunky husband to Ginuwine's "Pony," the signature song for Tatum's stripper dance routines in the two movies.
"Lip Sync Battle" host LL Cool J teased Dewan Tatum, asking if this was a routine evening at the Tatum household, according to "Today." When the "sync-off" aired Jan. 7, Tatum responded by singing Beyoncé's "(Run the World) Girls" with a stunning cameo by the former Destiny's Child lead singer herself.
Dressed as Knowles with a fake wig and riding a fake horse, Tatum's entrance was anything but subtle. Even as his wife goes mad for Knowles' cameo, Tatum never breaks character in completing the number.
A month after the battle aired Jan. 7, the video has exploded in popularity, with some 24 million views to date. Tatum and Dewan Tatum have been married since 2009. Both are 35 years old.
