A Phoenix family packed up their belongings and moved away, but they left one thing behind that has readers up in arms (photo below).

A day after the family drove off, their former neighbor made an unsettling discovery on an abandoned couch. The neighbor told ABC15 Arizona that the family left their 3-year-old pit bull behind. A photo of the dog was then uploaded to Facebook and was shared more than 3,000 times in January 2016.
In the Facebook post, uploader Amy Nelson called out the family by name and said: "They placed their garbage on the curb, this also included their family dog who is now at MACC animal shelter."

As the picture made its rounds all over the Internet, viewers from all over reached out to help. ABC15 reports that after the pup was transferred to the Arizona Humane Society, they were overwhelmed with calls from people who wanted to lend a hand.

"We've been inundated with calls, people, rescue groups, people that want to step up and help," a member of animal control services told ABC15.

Though the family that left the dog behind could face animal cruelty charges, it's unclear if an investigation is expected, according to media reports.

At the time of the last report, the 3-year-old pooch was up for adoption. However, based on attention that his post garnered, we're willing to bet he will end up at a nice home.
