Mom got pregnant naturally and is about to have an unusual number of babies
Australian mother Kim Tucci and her husband, already the parents of two little girls, decided to have one more child -- just one, and perhaps they'd add a boy to their family. They got their wish and a whole lot more. Against 60 million to one odds, Tucci is expecting quintuplets; four girls, and, finally, a boy. Advertisement
Tucci posts regularly about her rare pregnancy on a Facebook page titled Surprised by Five, now with more than 168,000 followers. She details the struggle of having five infants growing within her, from waking up "a minimum of 12 times" each night to trying to eat 6,000 calories per day to constantly painful hips and joints. "It's getting harder as each day passes to push through the pain," Tucci wrote on January 17, nearing her 28th week of gestation. "No amount of pillows are helping support my back and belly. Sometimes I get so upset that I just want to throw my hands up and give in!"
Tucci also takes time to post about whooping cough. She advises her followers that "It has been reported that a Whooping cough outbreak in Western Australia is imminent! Please do your research and vaccinate." She includes a link to an awareness campaign recently begun by a local family who lost their infant to the respiratory disease, and describes how the entire Tucci family had recently received vaccines.
"Is it all worth it?" she writes. "Yes!!!! I will keep pushing through."
