Doug Hogate Sr. has been hard at work as a member of the Salem City Police Department for nearly three decades. He's been patrolling the streets of Salem, N.J., ever since he graduated from the police academy back in 1988, reports. But now, Hogate Sr. is calling it quits. On March 24, he put the uniform on for the last time.

As Hogate Sr. radioed in for one last time, he received a touching tribute from none other than his son, also a member of the Salem City Police Department. Hogate Jr. broadcast the message to all local cars. A video of the now-retired officer listening to the heartfelt message was shared on Facebook by Salem County 9-1-1 Center. The comments section is flooded with well wishes for Hogate Sr.

"I have yet to watch this video without tears.
