General Mills recalls 4 flavors of Nature Valley bars over listeria concerns
January 11, 2017
You may want to check your pantries after reading this! Nature Valley issued an important recall of four of its Nature Valley Protein Chewy Bars and Nature Valley Simple Nut Bars. The bars affected by the recall may contain seeds from a supplier that issued a recall due to the possible presence of listeria, according to General Mills.
General Mills encouraged customers to check their pantries to make sure they don't have any of the products. The flavors included in the recall are:
- Honey, Peanut & Almond with Pumpkin Seeds
- Peanut, Almond & Dark Chocolate
- Almond, Cashew & Sea Salt
- Roasted Peanut & Honey
"We know this is inconvenient for consumers who love these four flavors. We promise they will return as soon as it is safe to do so," president of General Mills Snacks Division, Anton Vincent, said in a press release.
The recall was issued June 1. To date, there have been no reports of confirmed illnesses related to the potential listeria contamination, General Mills told CBS Los Angeles.
Consumers may return the product to the store they purchased it from for a refund. Customers who already discarded the product can call General Mills at 1-866-896-4365 to receive a replacement.
General Mills said customers should discard any of the four flavors no matter what the expiration date says on the box.
