The pregnant widow of a fallen police officer was able to honor her husband’s selfless service by taking maternity photos with his comrades in blue. The widow, Meghan Jacobs posed for the series of maternity photos alongside props such as her husband Allen Jacob’s uniform, police car and fellow police officers.

Jessie Ellex of J.Ellex Photography captured the stunning photos. She said she took the photos because Meghan was a friend in need. When she posted some of the photos on Facebook, people really appreciated the way Ellex captured the occasion.

Rhonda Hunt said on Facebook, "The photos were absolutely beautiful. I lost my husband 20 days before our beautiful little boy was born. It's heartbreaking to see any woman have to experience that pain. Prayers for her and the baby."

Allen Jacobs died on March 18 when he was killed by a gang member in Greenville, S.C. Jacobs was a decorated police officer and Army veteran. He had been on the police force for four years. Allen was a well-liked officer who even received the Billy Wilkins Award for Law Enforcement Excellence posthumously.

Billy Wilkins, a former chief judge of the 4th circuit U.S. Court of Appeals said of Allen at the award ceremony according to 7 News, “I knew Officer Jacobs professionally because he was out there making cases like any good police officer.  He was a warrior. The first to sign up, the first to volunteer and the last to always leave.  And the day he was killed, he was doing his job and he was doing it well.”

According to 7 News, Allen Jacobs leaves behind two young sons and his wife is pregnant with the couple’s daughter due to be born in July.
