Yikes! Yes, that's a huge python in the kiddie pool! Her name is Sumatra, and she is a Burmese python who was eight years old when this video was shot in 2014. She belongs to the family of Corey Wallace, who is apparently the family in the video. According to Wallace, Sumatra has been to more than 500 birthday parties and school events for children.

Wallace's YouTube visitors have viewed the video more than 2.4 million times, and his responses to their questions tell more of Sumatra's story. The python has been with the family since she was "newly hatched" and has "never killed anything in her life." An update from January 2016 notes that the giant snake is now 18 feet (5.5 meters) long and weighs 250 pounds (113.4 kilograms)!

A follow-up video posted in September 2015 shows a much bigger Sumatra swimming with the kids in an unchlorinated swimming pool -- a full-sized pool, but dwarfed by the enormous snake. The footage includes incredible underwater shots of Sumatra enjoying the buoyancy of the water and generally having a good time.
