The old joke about the dog chasing the mailman proves a comical idea when watching this mailman give a bit of love to a large German shepherd. According to the Daily Mail, this is an everyday occurrence at this residence in New Zealand’s North Island, regardless of whether or not a delivery occurs. The mailman simply departs his bike for a bit of puppy love.

"He always gets over looked as a dangerous or unapproachable dog, maybe because he's big I am not sure," owner Michael Collins told the paper of his nine-month-old dog. "He doesn't bark at them or growl. But this guy here always makes an effort to get off his bike to give him a hug and a pat!"

According to Petbreeds.com, German shepherds' typically grow to a size of 22 to 26 inches (55 to 66 cm) in height and weigh between 75 to 95 pounds (34 to 43 kg). Their large size and easy training make them highly desirable for police and guard dogs.

However, this regular visitor realizes a little kindness quickly builds friendship, even with an intimidating looking creature. Be sure and share this charming dog video.
