If you or anyone you know has ever experienced a choking incident, you know that it's terrifying and that the consequences can be severe – even deadly. That's why this video is so important: watch as fire medic Jeff Rehman demonstrates how to rescue yourself should you be alone and choking. Mr. Rehman actually learned this trick during his boxing days as a way to strengthen his abdominal muscles. However, the maneuver can also be applied to dire safety situations as well.

In the video, Jeff  instructs you to get into a "push-up position" and abruptly shoot your arms forward, causing your body to slam into the ground. This forceful motion moves a lot of air and, according to Jeff, should be enough to dislodge the stuck item. While he acknowledges that this technique isn't necessarily 100% effective, here at SF Globe, we consider this a potentially life-saving skill worth knowing.
