In 2011, Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang put on a display the likes of which the world had never seen. Typically, fireworks are put on display in order to light up the night's sky with sparkles and booms. On this day, however, onlookers witnessed the largest daytime firework exhibition in history.

The video below shows some of the amazing events that took place. Since the backdrop for a normal firework show is black, Cai Guo-Qiang put a spin on tradition and burst black powder onto the crystal-blue backdrop. It might look like a flock of birds in the sky, but when the black powder turns to color...there is no denying the awesome spectacle.
