An off-duty police officer in Uberlandia, Brazil was almost the victim of a carjacking this May until he pulled out his sidearm and opened fire on his would-be robbers, killing one.

The International Business Times reports that a number of thieves entered the unnamed officer's garage as he entered with his car.  Security footage from the officer's home shows the attacker closest to the police officer fire multiple shots before running away. The officer was not harmed, but the armed attacker, identified as 32-year-old  Eliseu Santos Paulo, eventually died from his injuries.
The officer was not identified, but the International Business Times reports that the local deputy police chief confirmed that the officer had 25 years of service and was acting in self-defence.
