Second chances can lead to beautiful things in life. We all make mistakes, some more serious than others, but second chances provide the opportunity to learn from those mistakes and start again. For a handful of prison inmates in Maryland, the term "second chances" means so much more than a fresh start, it means a way of life.

Second Chances Farm in Sykesville, Maryland is a one-of-a-kind property. The farm was started by a retirement foundation seeking to rescue and care for horses trapped in abusive circumstances. The creators sought land near a correctional facility in Sykesville and decided the farm would be a place were convicted felons from the facility could come and learn to care for horses.

The two inmates highlighted in this video both come from troubled pasts, but have been able to find solace and purpose at Second Chances. Working with the horses has not only taught them how to care for an animal, but it's also helped them get in touch with parts of themselves that don't surface much living behind bars.

Watching the inmates connect and care for the horses is one of the most moving images I've ever seen. Watch the video and share your thoughts with us in the comments section!
