A 26-year-old surrogate mom is being told to abort one of the babies she is carrying. The New York Post reports that 26-year-old Brittneyrose Torres from Thousand Oaks, Calif., is acting as a surrogate mom under a $30,000 contract with the couple.

Implanted originally with two fertile eggs, one boy and one girl, one of the eggs split; and Torres is now carrying triplets, two boys and a girl. 

At first, the biological parents seemed pleased with the triplets, but at 13 weeks, they had a change of plans.


They told Torres to abort the girl due to "increased medical risks for developmental disabilities."

Torres checked with her doctor who informed her that everything was fine and no medical reason existed for an abortion.

Torres offered to adopt the baby girl when she was born, but the parents refused that option as well, still insisting on an abortion. Torres then contacted the Center for Bioethics and Culture Network (CBCN) in an attempt to gain advice on how to keep from aborting the baby.

The CBCN describes itself as a place that "addresses bioethical issues that most profoundly affect our humanity, especially issues that arise in the lives of the most vulnerable among us." The center is headquartered in Pleasant Hill, Calif., and deals with everything from suicide to surrogacy to euthanasia. 

Torres continues her fight. She told the Post, "I could not emotionally and physically do that at nearly 13 weeks. I believe it will be killing this baby." She went public in order to warn other prospective surrogates about the demands that may be placed upon them. "They shouldn’t be forced to do something they don’t want to,” she said.
