"Imagine, if you will, sitting down to your morning coffee, turning on your home computer to read the days newspaper." So begins a news broadcast from 1981, in which the anchor envisions a world where you can download the contents of the newspaper right to your home computer. You won't even have to step outside to grab the real thing. 

"Well it's not as far-fetched as it may seem," she says. At the time, this was a pretty far-fetched idea, as the computers that we know now were in the early development stages back in the 80s. Technology has come a long, long way in the past few decades, so you can imagine how outlandish this idea may have seemed some thirty years ago.
