Deirdre Sanford had grown weary of picking up after her husband. "You don't understand what I have to go through every single day, how hard I really work," he explained to her, "I just wanna come home and relax with the kids." Sanford didn't seem satisfied with her husband's reasoning, until one day when she picked up a pair of his work boots.

In an anecdote submitted to Love What Matters, Sanford tearfully recalls the moment she began to appreciate how hard her husband works: when she saw the actual holes in the soles of his work boots. While she'd previously found him unthankful and lazy, her entire perspective shifted with one simple glance at his shoes.

"Ladies, I see a lot of y'all complaining how your husband doesn't help clean the house, pick up after himself, or even want to go anywhere when he gets home after work," she starts her post. But then her tone shifts, "I think some of us underestimate how much they go through."

Sanford said she was nearly in tears when she saw the condition of her husband's boots, noting that she finally realized why he came home and turned into a "couch potato."

Sanford's post struck a chord with Facebook users, many of whom shared her sentiment. "Amen! So blessed to have such a hard working man myself," one of the top comments reads. Some viewers pointed out that women, too, have physically demanding jobs and should sometimes be free of house cleaning duties. All in all, people were happy that Sanford shared her experience.

"The point I'm trying to get across is appreciate your husbands more," she says in the closing paragraph, "You are their rock, and they are yours."
