Store clerk grabs baby just before woman collapses and has seizure
January 14, 2019
A convenience store clerk from Colorado is being hailed as a hero for saving a baby from a potentially horrible fate. The quick-thinking clerk, Rebecca Montano, took the baby in her arms just as the girl's mother had a seizure and fell to the floor. Montano told Colorado’s 9News that she instinctively grabbed for the baby because something didn’t seem right.

“I was talking to the baby and she — (the child's mom) — had a glazed look on her face,” Montano explained to 9News. “I wasn’t sure, I felt uneasy about it. I was asking her, ‘Is everything OK?’ I grabbed the baby’s arm and she started to sway, she wouldn’t answer me. She was just lost in space, so I thought I better take the baby, something doesn’t feel right. And then right there she started to fall and I wasn’t sure still exactly what was going on.”
Montano asked another customer who was in the store for assistance, and then she called emergency services. Montano said that she’s glad she was able to help the baby, but she wishes she could’ve stopped the mother from falling as well.
According to the Huffington Post, Montano said she hopes the customer and her baby come visit her in the future, so she can see how they are doing.
Watch the March 2016 news footage of the video below to find out if the mom did reconnect with Montano.
