Would you stand between your best friend and a rattlesnake? That's exactly what Haus, the two-year-old German Shepherd, did for his owner, Molly DeLuca. The seven-year-old was playing in the backyard with Haus and her grandmother when a rattlesnake struck the dog three times.

Molly's mother, Donya DeLuca, is convinced the dog was protecting those he loved the most. In an interview with Fox 13 News she said, "I feel really grateful for the dog. It is frightening to think it could have been my daughter. I don't know if she would have made it."

Haus was injected with so much venom that the veterinarian set up a drip of antivenin because the usual one or two dose shot was not going to cut it.

Of course, a recovery process such as this comes with a steep price tag. The bill was expected to be over $9,000. However, the family set up a GoFundMe page to help with expenses and has since reached over $50,000 in contributions. The page is still active, but the family asks that anybody interested in donating should instead give to Heidi's Legacy Rescue.

Haus is a wonderful reminder of what it means to be a true hero. Check out the clip below to for more doting on this heroic pup.
