In April of 2002, McKenzie Michelle Carey was born, weighing in at a shade over eight pounds. Less than two years later, doctors diagnosed McKenzie with Mitochondrial disease, a life-threatening disorder in which the mitochondria fail to create sufficient energy and as a result, all systems of the human body suffer. There is no known cure for the disease, and doctors said McKenzie wouldn't make it to her teen years. She's now 13, and her courageous battle has been aided tremendously by the generous donors who contributed to her GoFundMe page.

Though the disease has certainly affected the way McKenzie lives her life, it hasn't stopped her from enjoying the simple pleasures. One such pleasure is dancing. Because McKenzie is unable to work, her father lent a hand during her summer pageant. The father-daughter duo took center stage and danced to Miley Cyrus' "The Climb." The clip went viral and touched users from all over. "Most beautiful thing I've seen in a long time," one of the top comments reads, "great father."
