Johnny always struggled with social anxiety. Despite the love and support of his family, he continued to have difficulties while out in public. That is, until he met Xena. Though he had never connected with the other two dogs in his family, something about Xena clicked with him.

Linda and Grant Hickey adopted Xena after seeing a picture of her on the news. She had been abused and was in need of a home. Linda kept in touch with the rescue coordinator as Xena was in the process of recovery. When the time was right, Xena joined the Hickey family.

What Linda and Grant didn't expect was their son Johnny's budding relationship with the pup. The rescued pit bull helped the autistic boy cope with his anxiety, and in turn, helped the entire family Hickey family.
