Jim Carrey is known mostly as a man of comedy. As the star of Ace Ventura, The Mask, Liar Liar, and a slew of other movies, Carrey has been making audiences laugh (and occasionally cry) for over two decades. Though the slapstick comedian has spent most of his life in the public eye, he's a surprisingly relatable guy. He came from humble beginnings and appears grateful for the opportunities he's had in life.

Perhaps that's why Carrey was chosen to deliver the commencement speech at Maharishi University back in 2014. The typical wisecracking Carrey slipped in a few jokes, but for the most part his speech was serious, thought-provoking, and inspirational. "So many of us choose our path out of fear disguised as practicality," he told the crowd of students, "what we really want seems impossibly out of reach and ridiculous to expect, so we never dare to ask the universe for it. I’m saying, I’m the proof that you can ask the universe for it."

Carrey's speech was a hit, and it quickly made the rounds on the Internet, with viewers praising his wise words. You can watch a segment of the speech below.
